Help for TypePaste.

TypePaste is a small macOS menu bar utility. If it does not behave as expected, the most common cause is permissions.

Basic workflow

  • Copy the text you want to insert.
  • Open TypePaste from the menu bar or press Ctrl + Option + V.
  • Click the destination field.
  • TypePaste inserts the current clipboard text by simulating typing.

Permissions required

TypePaste may require two macOS permissions for its core workflow:

  • Input Monitoring, to detect the click that selects the destination field
  • Accessibility, to send synthetic keyboard events to the selected destination

If you change Input Monitoring permission, quit and reopen TypePaste.

Troubleshooting

Nothing happens after I arm the app.

Confirm that Input Monitoring and Accessibility are both enabled for TypePaste, confirm that the clipboard currently contains text, then reopen the app and try again.

It works in some apps but not in others.

Some destinations block ordinary paste but still allow typing. Others block synthetic keyboard input or use secure input. In those environments, TypePaste may not work.

Does TypePaste upload my clipboard text?

No. The current version runs locally on the Mac and does not upload clipboard contents to remote servers.
